The CSIR has a vacancy for a Food Safety and Hygiene Assistant in the CSIR Conferencing and Accommodation (C&A) portfolio. The incumbent will be responsible for assisting with the receiving, handling, storage and dispatch of goods. S/he will administer the processing of food, and beverage stock, and administrate the execution of food and beverage safety and hygiene. The incumbent will also monitor food and beverage expiry dates and take appropriate action. This position is based in Pretoria.
This position reports to the Storeman.
The CSIR Conferencing and Accommodation portfolio comprises of the CSIR International Convention Centre (ICC), Newton’s Eatery, Knowledge Commons meeting hub and Entabeni overnight accommodation.
Key responsibilities:
- Receiving and issuing of goods and checking of quantities, quality, and delivery conditions and temperatures of food and beverages products, recording of all details according to stock and food hygiene standards;
- Labelling and dating of food and beverage stock, stock rotation and record keeping;
- Assist with data capturing in relation to receiving of stock, stock taking and issuing;
- Maintaining cleanliness, neatness, and hygiene of stores;
- Stand in for Storeman in their absence;
- Stock-taking and reporting;
- Examining prices from different vendor.
Qualifications, skills and experience:
- A Matric certificate with a food safety and hygiene certificate with at least three years’ experience in stores, purchasing and receiving in a similar environment.
- A certificate in purchasing with extensive training in food safety and hygiene will be advantageous.
